Arndale Morecambe Bay is pleased to be supporting The National Autistic Society’s Autism Hour, taking place on Monday 2 October 2017 between 10am till 11am. As part of the campaign, Arndale Morecambe Bay will be turning off their music during the hour, and dim lighting where possible to take simple steps for 60 minutes that lead to a more autism-friendly world.
The action comes as the centre has introduced quiet shopping hours between 8am and 10am, Monday to Saturday, a new scheme following recent Dementia training for all Arndale Morecambe Bay staff, provided by Gill Grattan from Reconnect Dementia.
"We’re delighted to be supporting The National Autistic Society’s Autism Hour to highlight the issues those with Autism face” said Sarah Harrison, Centre Manager. “Shopping can be a hectic, busy and an often confusing environment for those with additional requirements, and we’re pleased to be leading the district’s retail sector in training staff to know how to assist customers, and adapting the centre to best suit the local community’s needs.”
The Arndale Centre is located in the heart of Morecambe Town Centre and easily accessed from Lancaster and surrounding areas with good links for car, train and bus users.
